Meredith K. Starbranch

York, Maine-Meredith Kells Starbranch, passed away August 12, 2017. She graduated from Swampscott High School, Mount Holyoke College, and Franklin Pierce School of Law. For thirty years, Meredith devoted her life to teaching her first grade students. She taught countless children how to read and loved them dearly. She later became a criminal defense attorney, working as a judicial clerk and a public defender before going into private practice until her retirement. Meredith was a very talented musician who could play the guitar and the piano, but most of all she loved to sing. Every year, she anxiously awaited her trip to Camp Ogontz to sing with some of her dearest friends. She absolutely loved to sing in the Sanctuary Choir of the First Parish Congregational Church. She did not like to cook, but all of the recipes she did make were beloved family favorites. She was a veracious reader, and loved to share books with her sons when they visited. Meredith enjoyed going to the Harbor Candy Shop, the Goldenrod, spending time on the beach and gardening with her dear friend Paula Williams. She is predeceased by her beloved mother, Julia Sturtevant and her father G. Rodger Sturtevant. She is deeply missed by her sons, Harry and Thomas Starbranch, and her daughters-in-law, Monica Keiser and Kimberly Donavan Starbranch. Harry Starbranch Sr. and his wife Diana are heartbroken that Meredith is gone. She has four grandchildren who love her dearly, Madeline, Jonathan, Sam and Jacob.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, August 16th in the First Parish Church, 180 York St., York, Maine. Burial will be private. Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, York, Maine is directing arrangements.
