Fitchburg, MA- Raymond C. Leach, 97, formerly of Waltham, MA  Maynard, MA and York, Maine, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017. He was born March 6, 1920 in Waltham, MA a son of the late Raymond C. and Florence  (Dozois) Leach. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and had worked for the Mitre Corp. in Bedford, MA. He was a Musician for 60 yrs and had his own  Big Band, Ray Leach and the Suburbanaires. He was a member of the York Golf & Tennis Club and had a Hole in One at the age of 83. He was the oldest of 15 children. His wife Shirley C. (Harris) died in 2014. He leaves two sons, Richard Leach and his wife Denise of Maynard, MA and Robert Leach of Fitchburg, MA; a daughter Susan Day and her husband Henry of Fitchburg, MA; two step-sons, Geoffrey and his wife Terry of Hampton, NH and Gary Thomas of Waltham, MA; 3 brothers, Raymond Chester, James and Peter and a sister Genevieve; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; 3 sons, John, Alan and Michael and 10 brothers and sisters predeceased him.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, August 19th in St. Christopher Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine with a period of visitation for family and friends  from 10-11am in the Church. Burial will be in Orchard Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher Church or the Waltham High School Music Dept.
