Cape Neddick, Maine- Barbara W. Grover, 91, of 755 Shore Rd. died Friday, November 16, 2012.
She was born March 26, 1921 in New Bedford, MA a daughter of the late George D. and Helen (Shum) Weare. She graduated from Colby Junior College. She had lived in Cape Neddick for 90 years. Her first husband Richard S. Knight a Naval Aviator died in World War II. Her second husband of 55 years, Gerald G. Grover died in 2001. She is survived by a son, Richard S. Knight Jr. and his wife Michelle and a daughter Patricia Jane Donnell and her fiancé Thomas G. Farrow all of Cape Neddick, Maine; 4 grandsons, Joel Donnell, Zachary Donnell and his wife Stacey, Richard S. Knight III and his wife Kristina and John Weare Knight and his wife Tessa; 2 great-grandchildren Norah Rachel Donnell and Richard S. Knight IV; Nieces and nephews including Michael Weare and his wife Patricia and their son George and daughter Jessica, David Weare, Stephen Weare, Betsy Weare and Henry Weare. Two brothers William H. Weare and John A. Weare predeceased her. Barbara was a member of the International Woman’s Club. She had worked as the Librarian in Ogunquit for many years and also worked for the Ogunquit Post Office for 20 years. She was an avid crossticher, known for many exquisite works. One of her most favorite activities was playing bridge with the “girls” twice a week for 50 years until a week before her death. She was a volunteer at York Hospital for many years, and enjoyed traveling the world with her good friend and relative Ginny Weare Parsons. She was an avid Red Sox fan and Ted Williams follower. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in the First Parish Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
