Charles Michael Calo, 62, of Cape Neddick, ME, passed away peacefully at his home on January 10, 2019 with his loving family and friends by his side. He was born on January 20, 1956 in Worcester, MA, son of the late Michael and Katherine (Libby) Calo. Chuck was a lifelong resident of Cape Neddick, ME and a graduate of York High School. He touched the hearts of many family and friends near and far away who will forever remember Chuck for his tenacity, wit, and charm.
Chuck was a man of many talents. From a young age, automobiles were his true passion. Chuck's spirit was filled when he was driving, repairing, or collecting classic cars. His other interests included locksmithing and cooking. Chuck also was a devoted animal lover who owned and adored an array of pets throughout his lifetime. Career pursuits included managing Libby’s Cove Takeout, chef at the Old Village Inn, working in his father’s accounting business, and managing Sanel Auto Parts in Portsmouth, NH. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the numerous friends and caregivers who provided tender care and love during Chuck’s illness.
He is survived by his sister Susan Miller of New York, sister Kathy Calo (Pamela Ingram) of Cape Neddick, ME, daughters Jessica and Kristine Calo, his aunt Eleanor Denofrio and several cousins.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, January 26th in St. Christopher's Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Meeting House in York Beach, Maine. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Chuck's memory may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
