Domenic Galeno, of York, Maine, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side, after a courageous fight against Merkel Cell Carcinoma. Domenic was born on February 3, 1956 in Dublin, Ireland, until he emigrated to Massachusetts in 1973. Domenic married his best friend, and the love of his life, Karen, on September 14, 1985. In 2000, Domenic fulfilled one of his dreams by moving with his family to York, Maine.
Domenic was an extremely loving father and more than proud of his two children, Jillian and Michael. Domenic was their wisdom and hero.
Domenic worked as a mechanic for many years, and most recently for Pratt & Whitney. He was a passionate man who enjoyed watching the Price is Right and Manchester United Soccer matches. Mostly, he was a family man, who he enjoyed caring for, and always checking to make sure, all things were in safe operating order.
Domenic is survived by his wife, Karen (Devine) Galeno; daughter; Jillian (Galeno) Hagen and her Husband Justin Hagen, of Rye, NH. His son; Michael Galeno, of York, ME, as well as their family dog; Fenway. Domenic is also survived by his Mother, Elena Galeno of Wareham, MA, his brothers, Orazio Galeno and his wife Claire, of York, ME, Peter Galeno and his wife Rosa of Easton, MA, and sister Maria Botelho and her Husband John, of Easton, MA. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews, including his goddaughter, Kara (Galeno) Bolger of South Berwick, ME. Domenic also leaves behind his close childhood friend, James Fitzgerald and his wife Geraldine of Dublin, Ireland; with whom he has remained best friends with, even from across the pond.
Domenic was predeceased by his father Guido Galeno and Mother-in-Law, Claire Devine.
SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held from 4-8pm on Wednesday, May 30th in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 31st at 11:00 a.m. in St. Christopher’s Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine.
