YORK BEACH, Maine - Frederick P. Duval, formerly of York Beach, Maine, passed away peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine, on Friday April 28, 2017. He was born April 21 1942, and was a lifelong resident of York Beach. An enthusiastic animal lover, Fred loved his Tuesday trips to the LaDawn Therapeutic riding center in Dayton with Mark from Anchor Senior care in Springvale where he was a resident for several years. Fred always started his day by looking at or asking about the weather, a trait he got from his father. Fred served in the U.S. Army as a reservist and spent active time in Germany, a tour which he often talked fondly about. He worked locally for Abbott Bros, as well as the York Beach corporation in the 60s doing beach cleanup and for Henry Rush doing construction. Fred had a fondness for drag racing and fast cars in general and worked on several project Hot Rods over the years. Preceded in death by his only sibling, Ruth Ellen Jones in 1991 and his parents Robert Duval in 1975 and Jessie Gibson Duval in 1994. He is survived by his two sons, F. Karl of Standish, Maine, and F. Paul of York, Maine; three nieces Bobbie Jones, Mary Schoff and Laura Gilchrest all of York, Maine; and his ex-wife Mary H. Duval of York Beach, Maine.
