Frederick Terry Glynn

November 8, 1932 ~ December 8, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

York Harbor, Maine-Frederick Terry Glynn, 85, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, December 8th, 2017.  Terry was born in Quincy, MA on Nov. 8, 1932.  He served his country in the United States Army.  After serving, Terry graduated from Boston College.  He had a successful career as a center in football elected Captain of the 1960 and 1961 season and played under coach Mike Holovak. One highlight of his football career was having the honor of signing a football for John F. Kennedy's son.  In 1961, Terry was recruited by the Houston Oilers, Patriots, and Chicago Bears.  He married Rosemarie Foresta of Rockland, Massachusetts in 1961.  They celebrated fifty-six years of marriage this past summer. Terry's entrepreneurial exploits began with his ownership of Woodland and Austin Chevrolet in South Portland, Maine and Pine Tree Pontiac in Dover, New Hampshire.  He also established two family businesses in York, Maine called the Ice Cream Shack and Galley Shack.  After an early retirement from working Nissan Motor Corporation he enjoyed boating, golfing, skiing, and serving as President of the Parish Counsel at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, starting a York Food Pantry, volunteering at Operation Blessing, and starting the York High School Ice Hockey Program.  Terry was known for being daring and adventurous.  He jumped off the 103 bridge at the age of 80.  He was a wise counselor, had a funny sense of humor, a competitive and tenacious spirit and work ethic.  His biggest attributes were his generosity and his love for his family.

He is survived by his wife Rosemarie Glynn and his five children: Sally Antonino, Sandy Hennessey, Sonya Doyle, Sharon Stone, Terry Glynn Jr. and his twenty grandchildren; Marianna Josephs, Christina Keller, Noah Debban, Timmy Doyle, Kaylee Hennessey, Matthew Debban, Katherine Doyle, Richie Hennessey, Mitchell Debban, Kiara Hennessey, Elizabeth Doyle, Corinna Hennessey, Terry Glynn III, Rosy Doyle, Sophie Antonino, Ryan Hennessey, Joe Doyle, Carissa Hennessey, Tony Glynn, Trevor Glynn and one great grandchild Rebecca Keller.

As a tribute to his life, the wake service will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, December 15th in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York, Maine. A funeral Mass will be Celebrated  at 10am on Saturday, December 16th in the Immaculate Conception Church,  98 Summer Street,  Portsmouth, NH.
