Herbert A. Hoover

Please celebrate the life of beloved and debonair father and grandfather, Herbert A. Hoover. He passed unexpectedly in September after a brief but peaceful hospice. Extremely shy and private, he was also remarkably accomplished. A Captain of the Marines in the Korean War, he was in charge of calculations for long range missiles. While he took pride in his service, he equally was haunted by the part he played. Originally a chemist, he earned an MBA after the War. In his job, he developed and expanded the use of synthetic lubricants in high end machinery, globally and into Space. Former chain smoker who quit cold turkey, his self-discipline and strength of vision were a marvel. He could also had the endearing ability to stand back at laugh at himself! Lifelong snappy dresser, world citizen, power player, but sociable only for his work, he had met everyone from Prince Charles to Henry Kissinger to Arnold Palmer. For his love, strength, wisdom, and so much else, the Hoover family will be forever grateful.
