James F. Cahill Jr.

York, Maine-James F. Cahill Jr., 86,  passed away on Sunday,  December 17, 2017, at his home.  James (better known as Jim or Jimmy to his friends) was born on November 22, 1931 in New York City, the son of Ellen (Kirwan) and James F. Cahill.  James spent seven years growing up in Kilkenny Ireland, returning to the U.S. in 1941.  Schools attended by James were Sacred Heart in the Bronx, Cardinal Hayes High School and St. John's University.  James was a veteran of the Korean War and served as a submariner in the U. S. Navy.  Jim was employed by a number of insurance companies namely Hartford Steam Boiler and Machinery Company,  Schiff Terhune and the State of N.J. to name a few.  He was a proud member of the Pease Greeters in Portsmouth, N.H., American Legion and VFW.  James was a communicant of O.L.L. in Sparta, NJ and served as an usher for many years.  Also a communicant and usher at St. Christopher's in York, ME.  James is survived by his wife Catherine A. (O'Regan) Cahill of 62 years, daughter Julia and son in law Rand LeBouvier of Kingston, MA, Mary Ann and son in law Jeffrey Zande of Overland Park, Kansas, Kerry and son in law Christopher Blosser of Purcellville, VA.  Jim also had ten grandchildren, Tara, Christopher, Julia, Courtney, Timothy, Victoria, Peter, Stefanie, Christy, Michael and fifteen great grandchildren. 

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 20th from 5-8 pm in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine.  A funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, December 21st  at 11am in St. Christopher's Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine.
