Las Vegas, NV-James M. Mackey, 67, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 14, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born March 25, 1951 in Winchester, MA, the son of the late James E. Mackey and Shirley M. (Booth) Mackey.
Jim graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1970. He was actively involved in the youth sports programs in Tewksbury for a number of years. He was the Commissioner of Tewksbury Youth Football, Umpire-in-Chief for Tewksbury Little League Baseball. He was instrumental in the process of having lights installed at the youth baseball fields and the youth football practice fields. He went on to become an assistant coach for the Tewksbury High School Varsity Baseball team and Head coach of the Northeast League Baseball team during the summers. As a long time member of the Tewksbury Redmen Football Club, he participated in and organized a number of fundraisers for the Tewksbury High School Football team.
Jim moved to Las Vegas in the fall of 1993. He leaves two sons, Sean C. Mackey and his three daughters Ashley, Emily, and Allison of Las Vegas, NV, and Jay P. Mackey, his wife Katie and their two children Bram and Cece of Hudson NH; a step-son Roy A. Fabila and his wife Samantha and their two children Chase and Camryn of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, Michael and his wife Debbie of Methuen, MA, Robert and his wife Debbie of Hudson, NH; three sisters, Diane Mackey, Donna Mackey, Maureen Mackey all of Tewksbury, and their families.
A private memorial service will be held at a future date at one of Jim’s favorite beaches on Lake Mead.
