James M. O'Connell

Ogunquit, Maine - James M. O'Connell, 79, of Berwick Rd., passed away Monday, February 25, 2019. He was born August 16, 1939 in Lewiston, ME, son of the late Mortimer J. and Bessie (Whitworth) O'Connell. He served in the United States Navy Seabees during Vietnam. He worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years before retiring. He was a lifetime member of the Ogunquit Fire Co., a former Police Officer and Selectman for the Town of Ogunquit. He enjoyed his cats, collecting stamps, trains and old things. He leaves his wife Marjorie L. (McAfee) O'Connell; 4 sons, Michael S. McKenney (Trish), Jon L. McKenney (Annette), Robert J. O'Connell (Roxanne) and David B. O'Connell; a sister Marie Dry; a brother-in-law Jim McAfee (Martha); 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Jillian and Courtenay; a niece Linda Hagger (Neil). Calling hours will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 7th in Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine. Funeral and burial will be private. Please omit flowers.
