Mary Freeman Obituary

Mary McNamara Freeman was born in Rockport, Massachusetts on June 26, 1934.   She passed on to Heaven on July 3, 2018.

She was predeceased by her mother Josephine Cole McNamara and her father William McNamara.  She was also predeceased by her brothers Dickie and Philip McNamara and her estranged husband Haven Freeman.

She leaves two surviving brothers William McNamara who resides in Berwick, Maine and Michael McNamara who resides in Gloucester, MA with his wife Cynthia; and a sister Ruthie McNamara Cabral who also resides in Gloucester, Ma.

She was adored by her Daughter Karen Freeman MacKenzie, husband Mike and grandchild Rowan.

Mary attended the Beverly Nursing School at the age of 18 and did not finish school but instead married Haven Freeman.  After several years she attended Stratham Vocational School at the age of 50 and became an LPN.  She then went to work at the Mark Wentworth Home as a charge nurse for 17 years and retired at the age of 67.

Mary went on numerous trips to Disney with Karen and Rowan.  She loved to read, garden and travel.  She went to England several times to see her brother Bill and Grace and their children.

In her later years she met Roger Langille who was her life partner.  They spent many summers at Moosehead and Sebago lakes.  They also traveled to Alaska two times driving cross country.

She had a son Kevin Freeman, wife Sandy and three grandchildren: Nathanial, Silas and Amber.

We would like to say thank you to Avita of Wells Maine for making a home for my mother for the past 16 months.  The staff made her feel like this was her home.  They made a difference in all of our lives.
