York, Maine- Rex Van Aken, 77, passed away, Thursday, May 17th, 2018 at York Hospital. He was born October 5, 1940, in Great Bend, Kansas, son of Kenneth and Mary (Horack) Van Aken. He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, and worked as a chief test engineer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring after 33 years. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Shirley M. (Desilets) Van Aken; and their two sons and their wives, Toby and Sherryl (Kiernan) Van Aken, of, Lee, NH, and Todd and Julia (Ruksznis) Van Aken, of Dover, NH. He was a brother to Marylou Swim, and her husband Bob and to Kenny Van Aken and his wife Shirley, Dave Van Aken and his wife Shirley, Mike Van Aken and his wife Ruth, and Morgan Van Aken (now Deceased) and wife Vikki. Also leaving six grandchildren; Nicholas, Nathen, Katelen, Megan, Brennan, and Anya.
Funeral Services will take place at 11am on Thursday, May 24th in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd, York, ME.
