York, Maine-Richard "Dick" M. McLeod, 89, was born November 30, 1928 in Leominster, MA son of the late Walter and Helen (Paulson) McLeod. He attended Middlebury College where he was a champion football player. He joined the Navy during World War II and served at sea. Afterwards he began working at one of his favorite places, Pinehurst golf course in North Carolina. He worked as a caddie and played golf, which was a lifelong passion. In the mid 1960s, he came to York, Maine to replace William Wilson as the golf pro at York Golf & Tennis Club, where he worked for three decades before being inducted in the Maine Golf Hall of Fame. Nowhere was Dick more content than while teaching golf. He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 20 years, Trisha Winton McLeod. Dick will be widely remembered for his genuine kindness and patience, his sense of humor, and his beautiful golf swing. Funeral services will be private.
