Shirley F. (Currie) Bean

York Beach, Maine-Shirley F. (Currie) Bean, 99, died Thursday, June 28th, 2018. She was born April 18, 1919, in Medford, MA a daughter of the late Leslie L. and Rita B. (Glawson) Currie. She graduated from Lexington H.S. class of 1938. She worked at Raytheon during World War II and raised a family while managing the office of the family-owned Moving and Storage business in Lexington, MA.  She was a Den mother for Cub Scout Pack #26 Lexington MA, and served as a youth minister, and Sunday school teacher at the First Parish Church in Lexington MA. She was an active member of the York Senior Center and was a 65-year member of the Rebekah's. After retiring she volunteered at Sohier Park and the Nubble Lighthouse. She played Mrs. Claus and visited many children’s organizations and Hospitals alongside her husband Warren, who played Santa Claus. She leaves two sons, Robert W. Bean and his wife Diane of Wells, ME; Ernest A. Bean and his wife Vivian of Tyngsborough, MA; a son-in-law Richard Brunstrom of Acton, MA; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; also nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband J. Warren Bean, two sons James A. Bean II, Donald B. Bean, a daughter Deborah S. (Bean) Brunstrom , two brothers Arnold L. Currie and Ernest L. Currie and a sister Betty L. Currie. In lieu of flowers, we would like donations made to the York Senior Center and the Jimmy Fund.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, July 2nd with a prayer service to take place at 7:30pm in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine. Burial will be held in Westview Cemetery, Lexington, MA at a later date.
