Thomas J. Mahoney

York, Maine-Thomas J. Mahoney, 83, played his final match on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. He was born January 6, 1935 in Brighton, MA, a son of the late Patrick T. and Catherine “Kitty” (Doherty) Mahoney. He graduated from Howe High School in Billerica, MA and served in the U.S. Army. He later lived in Groton, MA.

          In his youth, Tom built legendary tree houses and underground forts with friends in Pinehurst. Later in life, he worked as a land developer / builder. He was a champion amateur tennis player, an avid reader, puzzle solver, talented gardener, and collector of ships and owls. He loved debating politics and religion, teasing loved ones, bingeing on sweets, and cheering / cursing at his Boston sports teams.

          He will be dearly missed by his wife of 49 years, Diane (Moore) Mahoney; 2 sons Robert M. Mahoney and Thomas D. Mahoney of York, ME; 3 daughters, Colleen M. Talty (Kevin) of York, ME, Catherine "Kitty" M. Pacy (Michael) of Shrewsbury, MA and Elizabeth M. Conca (Jacob) of Grafton, MA; 2 brothers, Jack Mahoney (Janet) and William Mahoney; 4 sisters, Marie McGonigle, Patricia Mucci, Kathleen Kelly (Paul) and Rita Pierce (Paul); 7 grandchildren, Catherine, Maggie, Matthew, Emma, Chloe, Abby and Finley; 2 sisters Joan Mahoney and Ann McAuliffe predeceased him.
