Thomas W. Bridges, Jr., 88, of Avita of Wells, died January 15, 2019. Born May 5, 1930, in York, the son of Thomas W. and Fannie (Ellis) Bridges, he was a graduate of York High School, where he was a three sport star. He worked for many years with his parents running Coupes Lobster Pound at the Nubble in York Beach and the Lobster Pot Restaurant at Wallis Sands in Rye, NH. Later he worked in Portsmouth at Yoken's Restaurant, National Gypsum Co., and Northern Utilities. For 30 years he was property manager for the Milton Peterson Family of York Harbor. He was a member of St. Aspinquid Masonic Lodge, Loyal Order of the Moose #444, Cape Neddick Country Club, and York Senior Center. He was also a member and Deacon of the First Parish Church. Tom was active in York sports organizations, and at it's inception he coached and umpired for 15 years in York Little League. He religiously followed York High School teams and greatly enjoyed working as a yard marker at football games in the 1960's and 1970's. He was also an avid fan of all the Boston teams. He was married to his wife, Jean (Blaisdell) Bridges, for 68 years, until her death in 2017. They were high school sweethearts who met working as caddies at the York Country Club during WWII. They were active ballroom dancers in Maine and Florida where they spent 20 winters during retirement. For many years they also enjoyed travels and cruising throughout North America and Europe. Tom is survived by his brother John Bridges of York, by his children, Thomas D. Bridges and wife Lori of Rockport, daughter Carol Bouchard and husband Jacque of Saco, daughter Kathleen Knox and husband Dan of Berwick and daughter Janis Lucas of Cape Neddick. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held in the Spring.
