Born in Boston, MA on June 14, 1932 to Albert and Nettie (Libby) St. Hilaire. He grew up in South Boston, graduating from Gate of Heaven High School in 1949. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Upon his return from military service, he graduated Boston College and attended Suffolk Law School. He moved to Kittery Point, ME to pursue his lifelong love of sailing. Together, with his wife Sally, they spent the summers sailing the New England coasts until the arrival of grandchildren, which brought them back to the family cottage on Great East Lake for swimming, water skiing, kayaking, and boating. For over 35 years, they also enjoyed spending time in St. Pete Beach, FL playing golf and visiting with friends.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sally, his daughter Carrie Bond (Kevin Orford) of Australia, his sons, Stephen of Lowell, MA and Kenneth of Tyngsboro, MA, grandchildren Whitney (James) Shadel, Albey Bond, Connor (Teah) Bond, and Joseph St. Hilaire and Great-Grandchildren, Lilly Nixon and Blake Shadel.
