Dr. Arthur D. Bourne

York, Maine-Arthur D. Bourne, D.D.S. (Art), 83 beloved husband of Anita, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 5th 2022 at home with loved ones at his side.

Art was born on July 16, 1938 to Arthur D. and Ruth (Tressler) Bourne Sr. in Denver, Colorado. He was raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming, graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1956 and then graduated from the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy in 1962.

He then joined the Air Force in 1962 and was assigned to the hospital pharmacy. At his discharge in 1969 he entered the University of Nebraska school of Dentistry, upon graduating he moved to Dover, New Hampshire to begin his career as a Dentist, and did so until his retirement.

After his retirement Art and Anita divided their time between their residence in York, Maine and New Smyrna Beach, Florida which he felt was the best of both worlds.

Art will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling with Anita and their friends both in the U.S. and abroad. Tennis was his favorite past time, which he enjoyed with friends and in retirement planning meals and cooking became his hobby.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Anita V. (Boulanger) Bourne, his son Daniel and wife Catherine, and their children Jack and Jonathan, son David and his wife Melissa and their daughter Charlie June, son Thomas and his wife Parveen and their children Uma and Maya, son Michael and partner Kristin, his step daughter Julie Cifrino and husband Thomas and children Thomas Jr. John, and Eleanor, step-son James F. Grimes Jr. and step-son Jonathan Grimes

Art loved and was devoted to Anita and his family, and they loved, admired and respected him.

The family would like to give special thanks to York Hospital palliative and Hospice care.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
