He is survived by his two children, to whom he was devoted, Jason DePerrio and Janet DePerrio both of Cape Neddick, Maine and his former wife Shawn (Bishop) DePerrio of Jay, ME. He also leaves behind two sisters, Louise Barrett, of Roslindale, MA and Patricia DePerrio, of Standish, ME, a brother Francis (Frank) DePerrio, of Winthrop, MA and John (Jack) DePerrio, of York, ME who preceded him in passing. Arthur served in the Army and was a Vietnam veteran. When he returned home he began working at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he was a long time employee until he took an early retirement.
Arthur was a kind-hearted, generous man, who had a good sense of humor. He would do anything to help anyone and could talk to anybody.
Anyone who knew Arthur will remember his signature hat. You would never catch him without it.
Arthur was not blessed with grandchildren but was a grandfather to two German Short Haired Pointers, Wilbur and Brazy, who loved playing ball with him, going for car rides, stealing face cloths, and taking naps with him.
Arthur loved thoroughbred horses since growing up in a horse racing family, it was in his blood. Every chance he got he was working with the horses in his younger years. He never missed watching any of the triple crown races and would go to local race tracks to watch when he could. Every weekend would be a horse racing weekend spent watching the races on tv.
Arthur was a very talented carpenter and mason. He built his family home, a log cabin, along with a massive stone chimney, carefully picking out every stone like a jigsaw puzzle creating a masterpiece to be proud of. He was also an artisan in the design and building of dry-stone walls and structures.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
