Bridget A. Coullon Obituary

Bridget Anne Coullon (Butler) died peacefully at Sedgewood Commons on Thursday, October 31, 2024.

She was born on January 5, 1935, the only child to Gertrude Ehret and Charles Butler in London, England.

At the onset of W.W. II, Bridget was sent to live with her maternal grandparents at Edgewater Park, New Jersey where she attended The Agnes Irwin’s School and onto Wells College in Aurora, New York. Bridget continued her education later in life, attending Columbia University pursuing training as an Occupational Therapist at Columbia University.

On September 7, 1963 in Philadelphia, Bridget married Michel Maurice Coullon. Bridget and Michel enjoyed many years of marriage until Michel’s death in 2018. Longtime residents of York, Maine, Bridget was very active in the York Audubon. She was a world class birder, traveling far and wide for many years adding to her life list. She led birding trips and gave talks in addition to publishing articles on various aspects of birding and where to observe them. Bridget was also a member of the York, Garden Club and spent many hours in her gardens. In addition to her love for birds and gardening, Bridget devoted many years to researching the family genealogy. Bridget always approached everything in life with gusto and humor.

Bridget is survived by her stepson Fabien Coullon and his wife Elizabeth of Pornichet, France, her step-grandson, Thomas of Yerres, France, her step-daughter Catherine Weber of Fresnes, France and niece Priscilla Jamieson of Berkshire County, England.

The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the staff at Sedgewood Commons where Bridget resided for the past eleven years. Their dedication and kindness provided Bridget with the safe haven she needed. The family also grateful to Affinity Care Hospice for their skilled, compassionate care during the final weeks of Bridget’s life.
