Carolyn Morahan, 74, Cape Neddick, ME. passed away at the Residence at Silver Square in Dover, NH after a 6 year battle with Alzheimers. Carolyn was born on April 11, 1947 in Greenfield, MA. She was the daughter of Joseph and Cecelia Machaiek.
She was predeceased by her brother, David. Carolyn graduated from Greenfield (MA) High School and the University of St. Joseph, West Hartford, CT. She married Robert Morahan on September 25, 1970 at Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield, MA.
After her children were in school, Carolyn was employed as the Director of Alumni Relations at Brooks School, North Andover, MA and at School Year Abroad, North Andover, MA for more than 20 years. Her jobs were the perfect fit as she was beloved by all of the alumni that she interacted with. She was friendly, enthusiastic, organized, determined, and a valued team member. Carolyn retired in 2006 to help care for her mother who passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2016.
Carolyn enjoyed gardening, walks on the beach, visiting her grandchildren, and traveling. She and her husband had many great adventures. She especially enjoyed the many concerts that they attended. Among her favorites were Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, Reba McEntire, Brooks and Dunn, The Oak Ridge Boys, Arlo Guthrie, Judy Collins, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. They also travelled to Ireland, France, Switzerland, Quebec, Myrtle Beach, Michigan, Tennessee, Virginia, and many locations throughout New England.
During her time in memory care, Carolyn was a favorite of the staff and the other residents. Her humor and positive outlook were cherished by all that she interacted with.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of Cape Neddick, ME; and two children, Christopher and his wife Corinne of Needham, MA and Susan Britton and her husband, Lee of Alexandria, VA. In addition, she leaves four grandchildren, Landon Morahan, Kendall Morahan, Matthew Britton, and Ella Britton. She also leaves several nieces and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
