Catherine A. Chase Obituary

Kittery, Maine-Catherine Alberta Chase, 95 loving mother and grandmother passed away Friday, October 23, 2020.

She was born August 22, 1925 in Portsmouth, NH a daughter of the late Arthur A. Argereow from Metelen, Greece and Elsie (Cammett) Argereow from Portsmouth, NH.

She grew up on Pleasant Street and attended Portsmouth Public Schools.

In the 1940's she enjoyed dancing at the USO club, taking stage lessons and roller skating.

She married Robert H. Chase, the love of her life on June 28, 1947 and they were married for 40 years before his passing in 1987.

She worked at the NH Provision Co. in Portsmouth for many years while taking time to raise her 5 children in Kittery, ME.

In her later years she enjoyed taking her daily walks, some days walking from the far end of Whipple Road to downtown Portsmouth to meet up with her sister Margie in the Square. She was always there to care for her grandchildren, taking them for walks, attending their dance recitals and sporting events. She had a great passion for music and dancing and would always look forward to watching "Dancing with the Stars" attending any of the local music venues and dancing with her daughters.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Donna Chase of Newfields, NH, Susan Hartman and husband Jack of York, ME and Linda Johns of Manchester, NH; sisters Mary Lasalle of Sacramento, CA, Elaine Stoyka of the Bronx, NY, Barbara Wood of Ridgeville, SC; brothers Clyde Argereow and Frederick Argereow both of Portsmouth, NH; grandchildren Kara Jade Hanscom, Shannon Hartman, Stephanie Torr and husband Dave, Kelly Johns, Nicky Johns and wife Allison and Joey Johns; great-grandchildren Jack Allaire, Jaden Johns, Nevaeh Johns, Kasey and Finn Johns.

Besides her parents and husband she was also predeceased by 2 sons, Robert "Robbie" H. Chase Jr. and William H. Chase, 3 sisters Anita Jones, Margaret Dominquez and Sarah Kafka and 2 brothers Arthur A. Argereow Jr. Woodbury C. Argereow.

Funeral services will be private in the First Parish Cemetery, York, Maine.
