Catherine M. Little Obituary

Catherine M. Little, 56, Beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend

Catherine Marie Little, affectionately known as “Cathy” or, simply, “Cath” to her friends and family, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2024, at the age of 56.  Born on a cold winter day in January 1968, in Concord, Massachusetts, Cathy was the cherished and deeply loved daughter of Sue and Ted Little.

Cathy grew up in Acton, Massachusetts, where she lived nearly her entire life. As a child, she loved the outdoors and was a superb athlete. There wasn’t a sport Cathy couldn’t conquer. Her lust for life was evident in the challenge of any new sport. She was the first to awaken on a summer morning to go water skiing with her brother and sisters at her family’s summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee, as her dad drove the boat.  She didn’t care how cold the water was; she just wanted to be free and ski, as she giggled and smiled, criss-crossing on a slalom ski behind the boat. She was an amazing cross-country runner and slalom skier at Vermont Academy and won yearly awards for most improved athlete.  She simply loved all challenges brought her way.

Growing up, Cath was exciting to be around. She was quiet in words, but her spirit could fill a room. Her calm, soothing, nature was an attraction to all animals, and she adored them as much as they adored her. She leaves behind her favorite cats, Abbey and Caleb, who brought her such joy in her later years. They were there for each other through thick and thin.

Cathy was predeceased by her father, Ted Little, Sr.  Cathy is survived by her mother, Sue Little of York Harbor, Maine; brother, Ted Little, Jr. and his wife, Virginia, of Newburyport, Massachusetts; her twin sister, Ann Little of Cornville, Arizona; and her younger sister, Darcy Rice and her husband Jeff, of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Cathy will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind Karin Magnuson and Joan Taylor, who were special friends and will miss her greatly.

A memorial service for Cathy will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 407 York Street, York Harbor, Maine. In lieu of flowers, Cathy’s family requests a donation in her name to Eliot Community Human Services, 125 Hartwell Avenue, Lexington, Massachusetts 02421 (or online at https://www.eliotchs.org/donate/).  If you would prefer to honor Cathy’s love for all animals, please consider a donation in her name to Acton Critter Sitters, P.O.
