Charlotte Irene Tewksbury passed away on April 6, 2022 at the age of 76 in Biddeford, Maine. Charlotte was born to Russell and Maxie Marston on April 19, 1945 in York, Maine. She graduated from York High School in 1963, and after meeting at Dan’s Star Market, where they both worked, she married Lee Tewksbury Jr. in 1966. She had one son, Lee Tewksbury III, to whom she was a caring and loving mother. Charlotte enjoyed a decades-long career as an administrative assistant at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where she was well-loved by her colleagues for her comic spirit, ever-present smile, and generous and thoughtful nature.
Charlotte was the embodiment of selflessness, always ready with a helping hand or sympathetic ear, and was a faithful correspondent and devoted friend. She had an easy infectious laugh and was always the life of parties, where she was famous for her chocolate peanut-butter fudge and the camera that never left her hand. Proud to be a lifelong resident of York, Charlotte was a dedicated historian and record-keeper of her home and family history. An attentive wife and mother, family was exceptionally important to Charlotte, and her most treasured role in life was that of Grandmother. Charlotte was immensely proud of her two grandchildren, and was a constant and daily part of their lives. Ever supportive and encouraging of them, Charlotte provided a fun and loving environment throughout childhood and beyond. Universally loved and limitless in her love for others, she will be well-missed.
Charlotte was predeceased by her parents, sister Anita Marston, and sister-in-law Judy Marston. She leaves behind her husband Lee Tewksbury Jr., son Lee Tewksbury III, daughter-in-law Lisa, grandchildren Erin and Sarah Tewksbury, brothers Raymond Marston, Roger Marston and wife Leona, Ralph Marston and wife Terry, and Rodney Marston and wife Holly, and several nieces and nephews. The family will be holding a private graveside service, with a possible celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
