Christina M. (McGrath) Schelfhaudt

Christina Marion (McGrath) Schelfhaudt, 90, most recently of Kittery, ME, died peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025, in York, ME, after a long and fruitful life.  She was born in Chelsea, MA on October 2, 1934, to John and Annie (Grant) McGrath.  She attended Our Lady of Grace Elementary School, and St. Rose High School, where she was enrolled in the business curriculum.  After marriage to her high school sweetheart, the late and beloved Peter F. Schelfhaudt, she raised six children, Peter P. Schelfhaudt of Westport, CT, James Schelfhaudt (Linda) of Laguna Niguel, CA, Mark Schelfhaudt (Janis) of Tewksbury, MA, Annmarie McCormick of Andover, MA, Nancy Everton of Belmont, NH, and Kathleen Ruggles (Thomas) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.  She immensely enjoyed spending time with her fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, proudly boasting about each child as the single most talented, beautiful, and smartest person on earth.

Christina was cherished for preparing elaborate meals and fancy place-settings for family and friends.  She traveled widely throughout the United States and Europe and was happiest when engaged in planning for her next travel adventure.  She relished hunting for bargains at Jordan Marsh, Filene's Basement, and Macy's, in search of the perfect gift for each member of her extensive family.  She was also adept at beautifully furnishing various residences, including homes in Everett, MA, Burlington, MA, Cape Neddick, ME, and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.  Her presence will be sorely missed, but her loving legacy lives on.

Services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025:  Viewing at Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, York, ME 9:30-11:00 AM.  Catholic Mass 11:30 at St. Christopher Church in York, ME.  A private burial will follow.
