Clifford H. Skogsberg of Eliot, ME, passed away with his family by his side on August 18, 2020.
He was born in Worcester, MA, on June 25, 1931 to Harry and Agda Skogsberg.
After finishing high school he went on to get his degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic. He joined the Air Force and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War, serving in radio communications. He was honorably discharged in 1955 and went on to work for Honeywell in San Francisco, CA. During his time with Honeywell he traveled to India to establish computer systems. After leaving Honeywell Cliff went to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, rebuilding and repairing gyroscopes in submarines.
In 1992, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Shapleigh, and became a wonderful step-father to her children, as well as a truly amazing “Morfar” to his grandchildren. He also gained 5 brothers and 4 sisters in-law when he married Kathy, and while it was an adjustment for him to join such a large family he was beloved by all and considered a saint by many. Cliff was very active and loved fishing, boating, golfing, gardening, and tennis. He truly loved spending time with his grandchildren and always took the time to point out interesting birds and insects, patiently sharing his love of nature.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Kathy of Eliot; step-daughters Anne Marley and husband Steven of Eliot , Danielle Cosenza and husband James of Eliot; nieces Virginia Carr of Fullerton, CA, and Marilyn Bostrom of St. Charles, IL; nephew David Holty of New Berlin, WI; and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Gladys Holty.
A private family service was held graveside at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot, ME, on August 28, 2020. Arrangements were made by Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home from York, ME.
Cliff leaves behind a tightly knit family that will remember him with kindness and joy. He will always be appreciated for his gentle nature and endless patience.
