God needed one of his angels to come home and so he called upon David. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David J. Alaimo who passed peacefully into eternity and is now reunited with his mom and dad. Born on December 29th, 1961 and at the age of 63, David passed away on October 19th, 2025 which is the birthday of his late sister-in-law Joanne with whom he had a special relationship. She filled David with laughter, often joking with him using the phrase, “It’s time to make the donuts,” which was a running joke between them and the rest of the family! He had an incredible memory recalling people and events that were lost on others and longed to know where everyone was and what they were up to! Watching re-runs of ‘All in the Family’ and ‘Golden Girls’ listening to the music of Barry Manilow and coloring in the books stashed in the homes of his siblings he visited brought David hours of pleasure!
What David loved most was time with his family. He really enjoyed family gatherings, both large and small, and especially loved being the center of attention! York, Maine was a special place for David, especially when his mom and dad were alive. Known as “the man of the house,” at the group home where he lived, he developed many important and lasting relationships with staff and residents of Turning Point Inc. the organization with whom David resided for over 35 years. David touched many hearts with his engaging smile and sweet demeanor. His laugh was contagious, and his innocence was pure. The family is grateful to his Turning Point family for the loving care each of them gave to David over the years.
David will be greatly missed by brothers Michael Alaimo and wife Diane (Donovan) Alaimo, John Alaimo and wife Donna (Ouellette) Alaimo, Stephen Alaimo and wife Sandy (Brightman) Alaimo and sister Julie (Alaimo) Balogh and husband Andy Balogh and several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his loving parents Anthony J. and Rita N. (Coppola) Alaimo, brother Anthony J. Alaimo II and his wife Joanne (Macenas) Alaimo, and nephew Patrick Alaimo.
