Deborah Ann Judy Obituary

Deborah Ann Judy was born on February 27, 1962 at St. Lawrence Hospital, Medford, Massachusetts to Jady Cauthen Judy Jr. and Mary Elizabeth (Neary) Judy.  She was predeceased by her parents and her two siblings Kathleen Marion Judy, Manchester NH and Robert Gerard Judy, Milford NH and is survived by her sister Marybeth Judy, Blue Hill, ME, and brothers Kevin Paul Judy, Boynton Beach, FL and Richard James Judy, Eliot ME. She died on December 8th, 2023 in Portland, Maine.

She attended Goffstown High School in NH and graduated in 1980. She received her 4-year Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Southern Maine University in May, 1995.  She persevered through her studies as she was being treated for Hodgkin’s disease. Debbie lived in York Beach, ME for most of her adult life.  She worked as a CNA in the York and Cape Neddick area for a number of years and as a volunteer at the Cape Neddick Thrift (now the YCSA Thrift) and made many friends.

She completed certification for Pharmacy Technician on 11/3/2012 though she never pursued this career as she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and underwent treatment.

She enjoyed a variety of interests which included painting, shopping at second-hand shops, being a pet owner, visiting Vermont with her cousin Eileen, weekly outings with her cousin Paul, reading Nancy Drew books and watching old movies and the golf tournaments.

She provided homecare for both parents in their later years as well as many years of care to her Uncle Donald Neary of York, Maine. The support she provided allowed them to stay in their homes and maintain their quality of life for many years.

From a young age, her sweet and caring disposition shone through. She had a quick Irish wit and enjoyed finding humor in life’s situations. Her disposition did not diminish her tough spirit and she survived many serious medical conditions. She maintained a strong faith and in the sacraments of her Catholic faith and in her trust in God.   She had a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary whom provided her unending comfort through the last years of her life. Debbie was taken home on December 8th, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Debbie will be missed by all who knew her.  Her family is comforted by the welcome she will receive in the life beyond.
