Diana K. (Godin) O'Connell

York Harbor, Maine- Diana K. (Godin) O'Connell, 88 of York Street, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 in Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
She was born February 7, 1934 in Bangor, Maine, a daughter of the late Emile J. and Lillian M. (Legere) Godin.
She leaves her husband of 60 years, Maurice P. O'Connell; a son Kevin P. O'Connell and his wife Beth of Darnestown, MD; a brother Russell Godin and his wife Maryanne of Lakewood, CA; and 3 grandchildren Gabrielle Steyer, Jack Steyer, and Fiona O'Connell. A daughter, Lisa K. Steyer, predeceased her.  Diana was a graduate of John Bapst High School, Bangor, ME and St. Elizabeth's Nursing School, Boston, MA.  She was employed at times at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Tufts Medical Center, Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD, Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, and retired from the Bangor Convalescent Center.  A military wife for 23 years, she accompanied her husband on tours in Japan, Germany, and various Army installations around the United States.  She was a skilled crafter, and we still enjoy her many quilts, needlepoint works, and other creations.  In her later years she enjoyed life with Maurice in Maine and Florida.  She will be sorely missed by her many friends and acquaintances for her sense of humor, optimism, and endearing personality.  

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30am on Wednesday, March 30th in St. Christopher Church, 4 Barrell Lane York, Maine with burial to follow in the First Parish Cemetery. A period of visitation will take place from 9:30am to 11:00am in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York, Maine prior to the Mass.
