Eliot ME. - Edward R Benoit, 90, born April 27, 1928 in Concord, N.H. passed away peacefully at Hyder Family Hospice House on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.
Son of late Edward and Alphonsine (Daniels) Benoit. Edward went to Concord High School and enlisted in the Army Air Corp/Airforce right after graduation.
He was a veteran of the Korean War flying 36 missions in the right seat of a B-26 Avenger. He returned home to marry the love of his life Mary Lou on May 17, 1952. Returning to Randolph AirForce base in San Antonio TX for the remainder of his active duty. He continued his reserve service at Grenier Airforce Base in Manchester, NH
Ed was a member, past commander, and current Jr Vice of the VFW post 6977 Cape Neddick, ME.
He worked for Sanders Associates for 20 years. In his years at Sanders he worked on the Saturn 5 space project. He was on the ski patrol at Onset ski area. With the help of all his boys in the neighborhood he built the Black Boar Ski Lodge in Bennington, NH. He would pile them all in the car on the weekends and off they would go. On any given Saturday he would make the rounds of the neighbors and by dinner they would all be having a potluck dinner at the house. One of Ed’s passions was cooking and sharing his creations with anyone willing to give it a try.
After retirement, he received his real estate license, worked at Campers Inn, Abenaqui Country Club, NH liquor store, as a greeter at Walmart in Myrtle Beach where he and his wife spent the winters, and delivering for Robbins Auto. He never slowed down.
He and Mary Lou traveled the world and across the country in their RV. Spending 7 years full time on the road.
He is survived by his daughter Nancy Benoit and Mark Johnson, his son Douglas Benoit and his wife Sandra, and son-in-law Jon Willis; 5 grandchildren Jennifer Landry, Lisa Tumblin her husband Frank, Sara Benoit, Jane Willis, and Timothy Benoit-Ledoux and his husband Damien; 5 great grandchildren Hannah, Isaac, Jadea, Helen, and Aurelian; 1 great-great granddaughter Evelyn; his beloved cat Nikki, and; all the many people in his life that thought of him as their Dad.
He also leaves behind his many family/friends from the pub and VFW who were very special to him and he to them, especially John and Janice. Always there to tell a story or do anything to help all.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou of 52 years, sisters Florence, Margret, Evelyn, and Dolly.
A special thanks to the wonderful nurses and doctors at York Hospital and Hyder House for giving their attention, respect, and love and taking care to make sure this journey was peaceful.

Services will be held November 9th, 11AM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
