Eileen P. (Power) Maerz

Eileen P. Maerz of York Harbor, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 11, 2021. She was predeceased in 2010 by Bob, her husband of 51 years. Eileen was born August 8, 1928 and raised in Scotland and emigrated to Montreal, where she met Bob. They lived in West Hartford, Connecticut for many years, eventually moving to Maine in 1991.

Eileen attended Sacred Heart Academy in Girvan and the University of Glasgow before working in Paris and London. She loved to travel and did so extensively, thoroughly enjoying new locations and the opportunity to meet people. Eileen also enjoyed the theater, whether London's West End, Broadway or local. She was a regular attendee and proud supporter of the Ogunquit Playhouse and never missed a summer season in 30 years. She was a member of St Christopher Parish in York. She believed in the importance of supporting her community and volunteered for a number of organizations over the years, such as CRIS in Connecticut, Meals on Wheels, St. Helena's Parish, The York Food Pantry and The Ogunquit Playhouse, among others. She loved her family and friends and will be remembered for her sense of humor, positive attitude, down to earth advice, and fun company. Not to mention her Christmas parties.

Eileen had many friends at home and abroad and especially enjoyed time spent with Jo, Mary Jo, Fran, Rose, Wynn and Becky; her longtime friend Louesa; and neighbors Nancy and Jim. She will be always loved and happily remembered by her son Rob, and his wife Lise, her daughter Tricia and her husband Michael, her much loved grandchildren Olivia and Pete, her sister-in-law Betty, her nieces and their families, and her dearest lifelong friend Ingrid.

The family would like to thank everyone at Beacon Hospice, Extended Family of Portsmouth, York Family Practice, York Surgical Associates and York Hospital Visiting Nurses for their kindness and exceptional care. A celebration of Eileen's life will be held later this Summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to York Hospital or The Ogunquit Playhouse, Ogunquit, Maine.
