Elizabeth R. Baxter Obituary

Elizabeth (Reilly) Baxter of York, ME, age 64 died August 4, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

 

Liz was born and raised in Lowell, MA, graduating from the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro, MA and Boston College with a degree in Computer Science. Liz worked as a programmer for RCA Automated Systems Division in Burlington, MA, Keane Inc. in Lexington, MA and Wang Laboratories in Tewksbury, MA. over a period of almost twenty years. After moving with her husband Gary to York, Maine in 1992, she went on to earn a master’s degree at Southern New Hampshire University in Community Mental Health and Counseling, and worked at Merrimack Valley Medical Services in Newington, NH counseling those with opiate addiction. 

 

Liz was an active classroom volunteer and mentor at Village Elementary School in York for many years, where her two sons Dave and Tom were students. Her boys were her pride and joy, and she loved watching and volunteering at their many soccer, basketball, baseball and football games over the years.

 

Liz had a great love of travel, and treasured the many trips she took with her husband Gary and their boys. She also loved living on the Maine coast, walking on the beach, reading, and spending time with her many friends that she made from all walks of her life. 

 

Liz is survived by her loving and devoted husband Gary, with whom she shared thirty six years of marriage, son David and his wife Allyson as well as their son James of Somerville, MA, and son Thomas and his partner Kelley Barnes of Boston, MA.  She is  also survived by her sister Ann Reilly of York, ME and brothers Peter Reilly and wife Maria Goes of New Paltz, NY, Thomas Reilly and wife Kristen Sample of Washington, DC, and Matthew Reilly and partner Heidi Towne of Cape Neddick, ME. She was predeceased by her sister Catherine Morency. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and Mass General Cancer Center in Portsmouth, NH for their caring and compassionate care of Liz.
