Everett T. A. Pelkey

York Beach, Maine-Everett T. A. Pelkey, 71, beloved husband and father, formerly of West Hartford, CT., passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital while surrounded by his family. He was born January 17, 1947 in New Haven, CT., son of the late Mildred K. Clark. He leaves his wife of 40 years, Ellen E. (Welcome) Pelkey; two daughters, Kelly A. (O’Donnell) Hartzog and her husband Neil and Heather L. Pelkey all of West Hartford, CT; two grandchildren, Devin and Julia; cousins who he considered his brothers and sisters, Pete, Jan, Jim, Fran, Dan, Ardelle, Merilee, Joan, Ronnie, Linda, Barbara, Ginny, and Marybeth as well as Linda, Billy and Camie who predeceased him; a sister in law, Judy Welcome, a sister and brother in law, Linda and Richard Welcome; many nieces and nephews. A brother in law, Edward D. Welcome, Sr. predeceased him.  

Everett spent his youth growing up in both Hartford and West Hartford.  He graduated from Northwest Catholic High School and went on to earn an associates degree at a computer technology school.  He was employed in the Information Technology field, most notably at The Hartford Insurance Group, where he was affectionately known as “Fido”, for more than 30 years as well as 10 years at Computer Science Corporation.  Following his retirement he and Ellen moved to York, Maine which was a life long dream of his.  Everett loved spending time with his family and was often the star chef.  His passions also included boating, kayaking, puttering in the garden and shed, working with and building things with his hands, hiking at Acadia National Park, traveling with friends and spending time on his deck watching the wildlife.  But most of all, he loved peanut butter.

Calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wed., Nov. 28th in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, Nov. 29th in St. Christopher's Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine. Interment will follow in the First Parish Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or an Animal Rescue Service of your choice.
