Flora M. (Santaniello) Chechile

Flora Marie [Santaniello] Chechile, 85, of Eliot, ME, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at Webster at Rye in Rye, NH.

Born on November 19, 1940, in Springfield, MA, to Andrew and Madeline Santaniello, Flora attended Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA. She dedicated many years of service to her community, working as Executive Secretary to the Selectboard of Hampden, MA and later as an Administrative Assistant at East Meadows Executive Suites in East Longmeadow, MA. 

Flora was known for her deep devotion to her family. She loved cooking for those she cherished, spending time at the beach, and, most of all, creating special memories with her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her daughters, Maria Keelon of Ypsilanti, MI, and Andrea Knowles and her husband, Chad, of York, ME; her beloved grandchildren, Sarah and Kelly Keelon; Stephen Keelon and his wife, Emily; and Blake and Kendall Knowles; her sisters, Nancy Santaniello of Springfield, MA, Anne Hannon and her husband, David, of Wilbraham, MA, and Maria Blackburn and her husband, Raymond, of Abingdon, MD; as well as four nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and great-nephews.

Flora was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William Chechile. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Cecilia’s Parish in Wilbraham, MA, on Saturday, June 13, at 11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow. Additional details will be announced on www.lucaseatonfuneralhome.com. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Ronald McDonald House in Springfield, MA.
