Francis “Frank” Robert Jillson of South Berwick, ME, died Saturday, April 18, 2026. He was born December 30, 1940, in Cambridge, MA, to Ernest G. Jillson and Edna T. (Croake) Jillson.
He was predeceased by his two brothers, Ernest T. and Edward J. Jillson and by his wife of nearly 60 years, Bette “Carla” Carlota (MacKeen) Jillson and one niece.
Survived by niece Lynn Marie MacKeen, whom he and Carla raised as their daughter, plus 8 nieces and nephews and many grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; and his beloved dog, Shadow.
He began his professional career as an electronics mechanic, soon transitioning into a 30-year computer programming stint at IBM in both NH and MN, and later working for Essex County Gas Company in MA and for Timberland in NH.
He was an active member of St. George's Episcopal Church in York Harbor, ME, where he supported their website, served on the vestry, and during social functions volunteered in the kitchen. He was an avid fan of science fiction--books, movies and old-time radio shows—of watching auto racing (especially NASCAR) and of cribbage, which he enjoyed playing with caretakers during the final chapter of his life. Before his wife’s death, they dabbled together in genealogy, bird watching, bowling, roller skating, square dancing, sport shooting and various other active and creative pursuits.
Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in the memorial garden of St. George's Episcopal Church, York Harbor, Maine. Light refreshments will follow in Fellowship Hall.
