Francis "Frank" W. Veino Obituary

Francis W. Veino Jr.

Francis William Veino Jr., 80, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1945 in Boston to Mary and Frank W. Veino, Frank lived a life defined by resilience, devotion, and unwavering love for his family.

Frank began his career as an ironworker with Local Seven. A near-fatal fall changed his and his family’s lives forever. With extraordinary determination — and the steadfast love and support of his devoted wife, Linda — he persevered. Through years of reschooling, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and sheer grit, he rebuilt his life. He went on to work as a Gold Hat at Seabrook Nuclear Plant before becoming Plant Manager of the Armoring Division at Simplex Wire and Cable Company, where he remained until his retirement.

A proud graduate of English High School, Frank was later inducted into its Football Hall of Fame. He went on to play junior college football before returning home after the loss of his mother to help support his family — an early reflection of the deep responsibility and loyalty that would define his life.

Frank was a man of strong family values and a tireless, never-give-up work ethic. He carried a bright optimism about life and people, often reminding others, “Until you walk in their shoes, don’t be quick to judge.” He was a devoted sports enthusiast who passionately followed all Boston teams. He and Linda cherished their many years of travel together, especially their annual trip to Aruba, where they reunited with old neighborhood friends from Boston.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda; his children, Francis E. Veino, David Veino, Lynelle Tapley, and Kimberly Neal; and their spouses, Simone Veino, Sean Neal, and Rick Willis. “Papa” will also be dearly missed by his 11 grandchildren and two — soon to be three — great-grandchildren, of whom he was immensely proud.

Frank is survived by his siblings John Veino, Anne Marie Goudreault, Ginger Teehan, and Frank Teehan. He was predeceased by his brothers James Veino and Lawrence Veino, and his sisters Carol Hazen, Mary Louise Perkins, Kathleen Daly, and Nancy Buxton. He was also loved by his extended family, including many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear lifelong friends.

Frank — Dad — Papa — we hope you are getting reacquainted with loved ones gone before you, playing cribbage with your father-in-law, “Easy” Ed Bernazanni, and reunited with your lifelong partner in crime and brother-in-law, Mike O’Donnell. The world is a lesser place without your presence, but as you would always say, “I had a great life — shed not a tear for me.”

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Durgin Pines, 9 Lewis Road, Kittery, Maine, in gratitude for the exceptional care they provided to Frankie.
