Francis J. Fagan Jr. Obituary

Francis Joseph Fagan Jr. passed away at 82 years-old unexpectedly on April 28, 2026. He was born on March 19, 1944, in Medford, MA to Francis J. Fagan and Myrtle A. Leahy. Fran, or Bull (as he was often called by old friends), raised his family in Somerville, MA before moving to York, Maine, permanently, with his wife and two sons in 1990. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy “Mannone” Fagan; his father, Francis J. Fagan; mother, Myrtle “Edgerly” Leahy; and sister, Denise “Leahy” Sullivan. He is survived by his oldest son, Francis Fagan III, and his wife, Carol McCannell Fagan; his youngest son, Scott Fagan, and his wife, Angela “Cook” Fagan; and his grandchildren, Addelynn Fagan, Stella Fagan, and William Fagan.

Anyone who knew Fran knew that his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a man who loved his country and was proud to be the son of a purple heart recipient who died, honorably, fighting for his country in WWII. Most importantly, Fran had an unconditional love for his wife, who he referred to as his “Lovey”. She unfortunately had an untimely passing in 1995. He would often speak of their love, one that no Hallmark movie could beat, saying that he was lucky to know a love like theirs and that he cherished the many memories shared together as well as the life they worked so hard to create - a life that was defined by hard work and dedication.

Fran began his career as an electrician, a trade that reflected both his skill and strong work ethic. Later, he and his wife, Dolly, pursued his entrepreneurial spirit and became a restaurant owner. They both found joy in bringing people together through food and community. Fran loved sports, such as the New England Patriots, the Red Sox, the Celtics, and the Bruins. One might call him a Boston fan. Fran also enjoyed days spent on the golf course and a cold beer. He often told stories of high school shenanigans, Winter Hill ties, and of course, the highlights of his marriage. When Fran would reflect on past memories from his “Pal Joey’s days”, he would have you sitting at the edge of your seat and asking for more. The man could tell a story! He loved making others laugh and had a contagious laugh himself.

He loved life; he loved his family and friends. Fran will be remembered as a devoted family man who took pride in his children and, especially, his grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness. He approached life with a strong will and warm heart. Fran’s spirit and love for life shone bright in everything he did. As stubborn as he was and politics aside, Fran made every moment spent with him a small adventure. He was a good brother, father, papa, and friend and will be missed, dearly, by all who knew and loved him.
