George J. Tello of Cape Neddick passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 4, 2021. He was born September 14, 1925 in Boston, MA son of the late John L. and Katherine (Jesson) Tello.
George was a combat veteran of World War II and subsequently joined the Boston Police Dept. He enjoyed an action filled career as a Boston Police Officer, including an assignment in which he teamed with a Maine State Trooper to successfully resolve a homicide of interest to both jurisdictions. Later, he worked in the private sector as an investigator and security supervisor.
He developed a lasting affection for Maine and its people and eventually retired to Maine with his wife Dorothy. They were married for 58 years until her death in 2008. A prolific storyteller, at age 85 George began authoring a series of books detailing his time at sea, investigative work and other reminiscences.
He and Dorothy raised three sons who will be forever grateful for the great life both parents worked to give them.
Those so wishing might make a contribution to the Morrison Center (for the developmentally disabled) as a remembrance.
Interment with Military Honors will be private in the Southern Maine Veterans' Cemetery, Springvale.
