Gerald W. Wykes passed away peacefully in his home at the great age of 95. He was born in Coventry England on May 7 1927. He was very athletic in his youth, participating in track and tennis. He also was an avid long distance cyclist with his best buddies. He shared many humorous stories of their adventures.
He and his wife immigrated to Canada at the age of 22. Then immigrating to the United States in 1968. He was a brilliant mechanical engineer by education and career. He held many patents in fluid power brake systems that were used in mine hoists, trains and ships. He was an avid learner and could converse on any subject, his favorite being history. He loved math and enjoyed solving complicated problems out loud with a twinkle in his eye knowing he had completely lost his audience.
He also loved gardening and rode his tractor until late into his 80´s. He was predeceased by his daughter Sandy. He was a loving and involved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Gwyneth, daughter Kimberley Imonetti & husband Glen, grandson Shane Imonetti , his children John and Piper and his grandaughter Ashley Imonetti, his sister Diane MacKnight and her daughters Dawn and Jane.
