Geraldine Molleur Obituary

Geraldine B. Molleur 1928 – 2019 Geraldine B. Molleur, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2019 at her home in York, Maine with her daughters by her side. She was born on August 28, 1928 in Lynn, Mass. to Edward Buchanan and Roselyn Griswold. Gerry was a life-long resident of Palmer until moving to York, Maine in 2015 to live closer to her daughters.

Gerry worked for AT &T in the very early days, when she could be heard saying “telephone operator, number please”. She worked at the Palmer Public Library for 36 years until her retirement at the age of 81. She drove the bookmobile and later served as reference librarian. Gerry was very involved in many community activities including serving as a board member of the Visiting Nurse Association, a member of the Palmer Women’s Club, English as a Second Language program developer, a member of the Rosary Sodality at St. Thomas Church as well as a CCD teacher there.

Gerry was always an animal lover and cats had a way of finding her. She saved countless strays that always had a way of becoming part of the family. “Momma Kitty” retired to York from Palmer as well where she lived to the “purrfect” age of at least 22 years old.

Gerry loved shopping trips to tag sales, thrift shops and going out to lunch with her daughters and friends. She was an enthusiastic N.E. Patriots’ fan and rarely missed a game. She loved to travel and was always ready for an adventure. She volunteered at the library in her retirement community and enjoyed all the new friends she met there.

She married her high school sweetheart, Reginald Molleur, who predeceased her in 1992. In addition she was predeceased by her brother, Neil Buchanan and her sister, Shirley (Forsman) Garrow.

She is survived by her daughters, Leslie Molleur of York, Maine, Carolynn Molleur (David Boring) of Nobleboro, Maine and her granddaughter, Carolynn Molleur-Hinteregger (Adam Travis) of Cambridge. Gerry was very excited about the upcoming birth of her first great grandchild expected in February. Her family was delighted to have her with them for Christmas where they all enjoyed gifts and a wonderful meal. She leaves behind many life-long friends, her sister-in-law, Muriel Quinn, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration in her honor is planned for the Spring.
