Harriet Lorraine (Gipps) Walsh

Harriet died peacefully at York Hospital in York, ME, with her daughter by her side, on November 1, 2022.

She was born on September 23, 1940 in Framingham, MA where she lived until she married James B. Walsh in 1967. She was employed by the Raytheon Co. at the time.

Harriet also lived in Worcester, MA and had homes on Long Lake in Belgrade Lakes & Rome, ME. Harriet loved Maine. She always made everyone in our large family feel welcome, and kept them well fed with cocktail in hand and happy at the lake.

She then moved to York Beach, ME in 1981. Harriet was a familiar face in retail management in York spanning over 25 years, working at What Nots, the Video Stop, Rite Aid and Hannaford. She was known to be a hard worker who greeted everyone with a smile.

Harriet remarried in 2008 to her best friend, Glenn Apgar, but sadly their marriage ended hours later when Glenn passed away that night.
She enjoyed their time together, time spent fishing and hunting or out socializing and enjoying time with their friends.

After retirement, Harriet immensely enjoyed attending the plays at the Ogunquit Playhouse with her daughter & friends.

Harriet adored her family. She was an admirable fighter and over the past few years she did whatever it took to try to achieve wellness. She is now at peace and will be forever missed.

Harriet is survived by her daughter Colleen Walsh Cain and her husband Corey; her grandson Brendan Cain;  her brother Charles Gipps and his wife Judy; numerous nieces and nephews.
