Harriet T. Lawry Obituary

Harriet T. Lawry, 93, passed away on August 21,2024 peacefully at the home she grew up in.

She was born November 6,1930 in York, Maine, a daughter of Russell E. and Augusta M.
(Woodward) Trafton. She was a graduate of York High School.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Alan and Christine Lawry of Greenland, New
Hampshire; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends from the Chases Pond
neighborhood.

Her husband, Manning (Gene) Lawry, died in 2022.
She was also predeceased by two sisters, Norma Joslyn and Helen Adams and a brother,
Chester Trafton.

After graduating from York High School, Harriet worked as a bookkeeper at a local bank. She
took great pride in “balancing the ledger”.

After marrying Gene, the couple bought a house in Kittery Point. Harriet’s heart was always at
Chases Pond, but she really enjoyed her two decades as a “Pointer”. She cherished her daily
walks to the store and the post office.

Their house became the center of activity for the kids of Kittery Point. They loved Harriet’s
kindness and her various inventive mixes of Kool-aid flavors.
After Alan graduated high school, Harriet began her second stint at the family home at “the
pond.”

For over 30 years, Harriet enjoyed welcoming neighbors to join Gene and her on their farmer’s
porch for a casual chat , while enjoying the view of the pond.
The family would like to send thanks to all the Chases pond neighbors and relatives, from near
and far, that were always willing to assist Harriet with any help needed. She cherished every
visit from her neighbors and family.

Harriet was a kind, caring and generous daughter, wife, mother, sister, and neighbor.
She truly lived the “Love thy neighbor” life.
