We mourn the loss of Henry Whipple Farnum who passed away at age 85 on October 25, 2024.
Henry was born on July 5th 1939 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to Henry Whipple Farnum Jr and Edith Sellers. He was the youngest of their three children. He spent the majority of his life in Philadelphia where he attended Episcopal Academy followed by St. Paul’s School and Trinity College.
He was a member of the Merion Cricket Club and spent his summers in Southwest Harbor, Maine where his family had a home. Maine remained his happy place throughout his life.
After graduation he became an accountant and eventually had his own business. During the Vietnam War he served in the National Guard.
On St. Patrick’s Day 1972 he married Priscilla Kroll and had two children Priscilla Farnum and Henry Whipple Farnum the IV. As a young family they lived in Scotch Plains, NJ and then moved back to Philadelphia to the house Henry grew up in.
He was a great lover of cars and had a hunter green MG. He also enjoyed shooting and hiking. As a retiree he spent time in the south and Vermont but, ultimately ended back in Maine where he died peacefully.
Henry is survived by his two children Priscilla (Alexander), Henry (Emily) and his five grandchildren Grace, Carter, Hayden, Henry V and Libby.
