Jacqueline Schoenly Eadie, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2024, in York, ME. Jacqueline was born to Roberta Fae Johnson and Jackson Heiss Schoenly, Jr., in Philadelphia, PA. She is predeceased by her brother, David E. Schoenly.
When “Jackie” graduated from Morristown High School, Morristown, NJ, in 1943, she was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” and “Did the Most for MHS”. Her post-secondary education was completed in 1944 when she graduated from the secretarial program at the Kathryn Gibbs School in New York City.
On August 6, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Stuart Eadie. He passed away in 2012, just prior to their 68th wedding anniversary. Together, they had three children: Karen Eadie Altman (husband, Ross) of Newtown, PA; Pamela Stuart Maynard (husband, Steve) of York, ME; Douglas Alan Eadie (wife, Patricia) of North Sutton, NH. They had nine grandchildren: Alison and Gregory Altman; Alexander, Patrick, Geoffrey, Jacqueline (Sargent) and Daniel Maynard; Erin (Angeli) and Kevin Eadie and eleven great grandchildren. She will also be deeply missed by her sister-in-law (and friend of 83 years), Jeanne Carmichael, and many nieces and nephews.
Jackie’s priority was always loving and caring for her family. But she also found time to use her energy, intelligence, creativity, and organizational skills working as a secretary. In her free time, she volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader. She was the Superintendent of Sunday School at the Wesley Methodist Church, South Plainfield, NJ. She was an active member for 25+ years of the Women’s Clubs of Oakland, NJ, and Lacey Township, NJ. This latter effort resulted in her induction into the National Association of Parliamentarians and election to the office of President of the Women’s Club of Lacey Township from 1990-1992.
In retirement, Jackie and Stu devoted themselves to family and friends, enjoying horse back riding, square dancing, Bridge and family games of croquet. They also had wonderful adventures together during their frequent domestic and international travels to places as diverse as Colorado, Alaska, Scotland, France, England, Russia, and Hawaii.
Jackie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a loving, hard-working soul who touched the lives of many people. She will be missed deeply by her family and friends. She was and always will be greatly loved.
