James H. Powers

December 5, 2021, James H. Powers passed away at 90 years young. He passed in his home in York, Maine, in his New England. Jim went to heaven to join his mother (Marion Elizabeth Powers), his father (Frank Powers), and his sister (Adelaide (Powers) Hobbs). Jim left behind his wife Brenda Hill-Powers, his two sons Mark and Philip James Powers, and two stepsons Brett and David. In addition, he left behind his granddaughter (Kathryn Elizabeth Powers), two grandsons (Philip James Powers, Jr. and Kevin Powers), and two step-granddaughters. In addition, he left behind a wonderful niece (Karen) and two loving nephews (Kevin and George). 

Jim had a fantastic and long career as an engineer working for General Electric and then later for Boeing.  He was a respected leader who was well-loved by those who knew him.  It is reported that, at the age of 71, when Jim announced his intentions to retire, Boeing begged him to stay and kept him on as a consultant after his official retirement.  He loved working on Corvairs, and he wasn't truly happy until there was an oil spot on the concrete in either the garage or driveway.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Adelaide’s Church at 10:30 on Wednesday the 15th.  Interment will be held after at Oak Grove Cemetery in Peabody where he will be laid to rest next to his Mother and Father.
