Kittery, Maine-Jeanne (Campbell ) Roche, 71, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. She was born the daughter of John and Betty (James) Campbell in Boston, MA on December 19th, 1951. She attended the Hopkinton public school system before moving on to Mount Ida Junior College. She graduated from the University of Miami where she earned a degree in physical education, health and recreation. She took a summer job in York, Maine at the Cape Neddick Lobster Pound. She wound up staying in the York area for 47 years, where she met her husband Ed. They had two sons, Jacob and Daniel.
Jeanne had many jobs in the restaurant industry, making lots of friends along the way. Jeanne worked as Ogunquit’s Recreation Director for 12 years. She also worked at Great Bay Services providing recreation to special needs adults. It brought her a lot of personal enrichment. She ended her career as Executive Director of Ogunquit‘s Marginal Way Preservation Fund. Jeanne was active as a volunteer in school classrooms, the Old York Garden Club and York Soccer Club. She became the first female soccer club president. She made many wonderful friends on her many diverse paths in life.
Jeanne is survived by her sons Jacob Roche of Newburyport, MA and Daniel Roche of Haverhill, MA, his wife Caitlin and Jeanne’s granddaughter Evelyn. She is also survived by her sister Ann LaPan of Cave Creek, AZ and her brother Craig Campbell of New Boston, NH. She has many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held from 4 to 7pm on Wednesday, March 15th in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd, York, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, Jeanne would prefer that donations are made to a local animal shelter in her memory.
