Jeffrey B. MacNeil, age 38, passed away in Denver, Colorado, on August 1 after a lengthy illness. Born in Nashua, New Hampshire he was the beloved son of Candice and Richard MacNeil. He is survived by his father, Richard MacNeil. Jeff grew up in Cape Neddick, Maine, and attended Berwick Academy.
He embraced the coastal life, starting to surf at a young age, but his true passion was skiing, which he began at age 5 and continued throughout his life. He was an avid ski racer, competing for many seasons in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. His love for skiing led him to the University of Colorado in Boulder, later transferring to the University of Denver Nursing School, where he was pursuing his RN degree, inspired by his mother’s career. Jeff fell in love with the Rocky Mountains, spending his time skiing, camping, and mountain biking with friends. He was also a skilled woodworker, working as a finish carpenter in Colorado, and he traveled around the country during the summers, working in the food industry at music festivals. Jeff had a deep love for music, starting with guitar in high school, which eventually led him to become a DJ at local nightspots. Jeff had a warm and engaging personality, often smiling and making new friends easily. He cherished his many friends and his beloved dog, Simon. Jeff will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was also passionate about the Alzheimer’s Association, creating a fund in his mother’s name after her passing. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Jeff’s name would be greatly appreciated. Jeff will be buried next to his mother in York, Maine.
A graveside service will be held on August 24 at 11 AM at First Parish Cemetery, 180 York St, York, Maine, followed by a reception at the First Parish Church function hall.
In Denver, CO at 2PM that same afternoon, a celebration of Jeff’s life will take place at Cheesman Park, 1599 E 8th Ave. All are welcome to attend either celebration of life.
