Jeffrey Scott Smith, 49, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away January 25, 2025. Jeff was born to Nancy L. Smith and the late Maurice A. Smith on February 17, 1975 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Jeff grew up in York, Maine and graduated from York High School in 1993. He continued his education at West Virginia Wesleyan College, achieving a Bachelors of Science in Accounting in 1997, and it's there that he met his future wife, Heather Dianne Tawes. They were married on September 27, 1997, and together would raise four beautiful children.
In 2005, Jeff began working for Fortessa Tableware Solutions in Virginia, holding the position of Controller, CFO, COO, and most recently was named the CEO and President in March, 2024.
In his free time, he loved playing and coaching ice hockey. He played on the Adult League for quite a few years, was head coach for the Louisville Ice Cards for 5 years, head Coach for the Trinity High School Hockey Team from 2021-2023, and acted as the assistant coach prior to 2021 and post 2023. Jeff loved playing golf and enjoyed many trips to some of the best golf courses in America. He had a great sense of humor, was loyal, honest, devoted, hard-working and dependable- and loved his family with everything he had.
Jeff is preceded by his father, Maurice Smith; his in-laws, Kay and Porter Tawes, his grandparents, and many other relatives.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 27 years, Heather; 4 children, Ashleigh Dianne, Garrett Richardson, Eva Kathleen, and Madelyn Cecile; mother, Nancy; Sister, Jennifer Hankin (Jason); brothers-in-law and sister-in law, Gary Tawes (Mary), Brett Tawes, and Jennifer English; nieces and nephews, Will and Natalie Hankin, Colleen and Michael Tawes, and Alexa Shumate, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives, friends, and colleagues who will all miss him very much.
