John A. Chaney Obituary


Cape Neddick, Maine-John Chaney, 85, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at York Hospital in York, Maine.
John Chaney was born on January 13, 1936 in Portsmouth, NH the son of John and Yvette (Racine) Chaney of Kittery Maine.   He attended High School at Traip Academy, in Kittery, Maine. Soon after High School he enlisted in the Airforce as an X-Ray Technician. He  then attended College at U.S.M, in Gorham, Maine. He later worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a welder, and soon became a Supervisor before retiring after 26 years.


He was a very charismatic person, who loved people and loved to tell stories. 
He had a vast knowledge of automobiles. He was a true fan of the Red Sox. He also loved playing the game of cribbage. He also was a very proud member of The Knights of Columbus.
He met and married his beloved wife of 62 years, Sheila Chase while attending U.S.M. in Gorham, Maine. John and Sheila enjoyed traveling, and loved to work in their gardens.


Survived by; his best friend and wife, Sheila J. Chaney, of Cape Neddick, Maine., his two daughters; Shelly A. Chaney and husband George Hall, of Cheraw, S.C., Kimberly M. Chaney and husband, Dale C. Farstad, of Buxton Maine, his granddaughter Lauren Carpenter and husband Christopher Carpenter, of Cape Neddick Maine.
